Lighting the Friends University bell tower in 1998 was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream of LightTheNight owner, Tony Weber.

The 148-foot high bell tower was lit using more than 1,000 12-volt wedge-base lamps, traditional light bulbs, and rope lights.

Davis Hall, Friends University administration building, was completed in 1888 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The five-story building contains 85,636 square feet of space comprised of classrooms, offices, a 680-seat auditorium and a museum on the fourth and fifth floors.

Two huge cranes were used to hoist the lighting crew into position for placing the lights on the spire of the 148-foot bell tower and along the vertical sides of the tower.

Founded in 1898, Friends University is the largest, fastest-growing independent university in Kansas, providing a Christian environment for approximately 2,700 students. {short description of image}

The tiny Wichita campus of a century ago has gradually grown to include more than 17 buildings and facilities, incorporating some of the newest technology available for students.

Displays created by LightTheNight can also been seen in city parks, golf courses, office buildings, zoos, and residential neighborhoods all across America.
